A demonstration lecture designed to introduce the ideas of sound waves, vibration and resonance.

The lecture begins with the ideas behind the transmission and transport of sound both in air and other media and by considering a series of different examples of musical instruments, Demonstrations are used to illustrate the fundamental processes of vibration, resonance and amplification that must occur in all practical musical instruments.

The idea of the human voice as a musical instrument, and how the principles developed for conventional instruments can be applied to ourselves, provides a surprising conclusion!
