Rates of Reaction - Turning a Whizz into a BANG!

Chemical reactions involve the transformation of one set of chemicals into another. These reactions are vital to modern society because they produce the chemical compounds upon which we rely, but they are also fascinating as understanding them helps us to visualise the structure and properties of matter on a sub-microscopic scale.

What are the basic factors that govern the rate at which the reaction proceeds?

By using numerous demonstrations, this show explores the concepts of mixing, temperature, activation energy and catalysis to help us visualise the steps involved in any chemical reaction.

Some Comments from Cams Hill School - 2009

The show was ideal for Year 11 as it covered quite a lot of their chemistry course and made it come alive and be entertaining.
In the evening, we had nearly 200 guests for his final show which went with a bang and several flashes. It certainly created that wow factor that can motivate pupils to be interested in Science.

"The Bryson Gore show was very interesting and I learnt a lot. I had no idea that mixing plaster with water was a chemical reaction. Some of the experiments made me jump!" Hannah Sharpe 9L

"I thought Bryson Gore was superb, he made the Science really accessible for all by making it fun and exciting. A great night out - thank you! I hope you are able to hold another one." Year 7 Parent
