Science and Art: 12

New shows for 2010!

The Science in Art

This show takes a look at the science that Artists have been investigating for the past 2000 years without knowing it.

  • Colour theory
  • Perspective
  • Paralax
  • Illusion
Each of these ideas are a standard part of any art foundation course but few students realise that they're studying Science. Indeed many scientists would disagree with some of the concepts that are taught but, rather than trying to point out where artists have got it 'wrong', this show argues that artists have a deep understanding of human perception and tries to understand what lessons science can learn from art.

By using numerous demonstrations we will look at a number of classic pieces of art theory and see what it can tell us about how human perception has evolved and how art is a science in its own right.

Designed to last a couple of hours these sessions can be tailored to fit your timetable. Get in touch and we can talk about what would suit you best.

Cost: £400 per session plus travelling expenses.
