    school involvement

If schools are to be involved in the way I'm suggesting, the challenge will be administrative rather than technical, and funding will have to be allocated to that. As you know, Sara Santos, a Clothworkers' Fellow in mathematics at the R.I., has special responsibility for the promotion of secondary maths masterclasses (and indeed gives many herself). I'l talk to Sara about the practicality of such a programme - and of course she can contribute to this discussion board. The organisation with responsibility for professional development among maths teachers in England (specifically), the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) have a website on which they would be pleased to advertise any such scheme. Their own funds are designed to help individual teachers contribute to professional development so there will be no money from that source. On Tuesday I'm due to attend a conference convened by their development director and he's sure to have some good ideas.
